Paired up to the Apex2 chassis this vehicle packs some potent performance just like the real thing. The Apex2 chassis uses front and rear independent suspension, threaded oil-filled shocks, active rear toe and sealed gear differentials. JP Verified Owner Saturday, Jan 21 2023 (about 2 years ago) Team Associated Apex2 Hoonicorn RTR 1/10 Electric 4WD Touring Looks really nice rolling, the scale body details look outstanding, and it drives well (to someone with very little on-road RC experience). Price seems high for a brushed car, guess we are paying for the license.
I suggest checking the car over when you get it. Mine had an o-ring wedged into the center drive cups and the shocks were low on oil. Two of the bleeder cap screws seemed to have been over tightened on assembly. I’m not rating the assembly, we’ve all been hung over.
With fresh 30wt in the shocks and a rejigged set of dog bones the car is fun to drive, noticeably different to the Traxxas 4TEC I compared it to. The gearing seems low to me, I assume it’s to facilitate sliding and spinning the tires. The stock pinion is 20 tooth and the option parts list up to 32ish, some room to adjust. As with other TA RTRs I’ve tried, the drivetrain is shockingly smooth and quiet. Seems to hold it’s weight low, it’s a dense car. Fun to corner with, just fun to drive in general. Seems like it could be upgraded to brushless with no drivetrain issues. 3 customers found this review helpful. But please read my reason. Had throttle for a moment. And then nothing. However, upon contacting amain for assistance, they have made it better. The customer service is excellent. They are sending me parts to fix my car and get me drifting. Super polite. I could not ask for a better experience with a customer service. With that being said, I’ll give this at least a 4-star rating. This is a solid ride out the box but it does have grease in the diffs instead of oil as the manual would have you think. I also added their optional sway bars. And the stock tires are pretty good as well. They give the car a good amount of grip and slide.
