The Reefs RC 179 Smart Micro Servo/Winch packs big power into this micro size. Using a brushless motor and programmable electronics this servo is able to produce up to 179oz-in at 8.4v! The Reefs RC 179 can be programmed to either act as a traditional servo or set up for continuous rotation in winch mode. If your looking for a powerful servo/winch option but space is tight this Reefs RC 179 Smart Micro servo may be your solution.

Jesse Nickels Verified Owner Saturday, Feb 18 2023 (about 2 years ago) Reefs RC 179 Smart Micro Servo/Winch This servo is what I was looking for. I built a ground-up scx24 and the initial servo was a MoFo black edition, which is not bad at all for the price. This is obviously a lot more money but as I added brass on top of brass to the bottom and especially the front that servo did begin to show its limitations which led me on the search that brought me to this unit. It does not disappoint. It is the crown jewel of my 1/24 build and does deliver on the performance. 4 customers found this review helpful. Rohan Bansal Thursday, Apr 18 2024 (about a year ago) Reefs RC 179 Smart Micro Servo/Winch It has a hella fast servo and has killer torque but the gears felt cheap, reefs told me to get this servo for a Mini B instead of Reefs 99, I got this and ended up stripping gears after 2 runs with a servo horn, used a servo saver from. nsdrc and that was the only way not to destroy gears but at the cost of steering precision. After switching to nsdrc rs100 i had the same issue of stripping the gears, only after 6 months of running around 7-8 packs a week. on a 1/10 track as well, after that i got nsdrcs replacement gear set for only 12 bucks and was back running. Alexander Adams Verified Owner Thursday, Feb 9 2023 (about 2 years ago) Reefs RC 179 Smart Micro Servo/Winch Giving this servo a 1 star not because of the quality or performance as I’m sure it’s great but because of reef themselves. I’m new to the crawler market I went straight to reefs telling them this and asked what is recommended and needed they recommended the 179 and a mount that’s needed. What they didn’t say is I need a servo horn as well as this servo uses a smaller shaft and trx4m horns dedicated to that car will no longer work what makes matters worst the horn that you need reef micro shorty is sold out everywhere till March.
