MST RMX/RRX 2.0 Aluminum Rear Gearbox Set. This optional gearbox is great for adding tuning and style to your MST RMX 2.0 or RRX 2.0 Made from CNC-machined aluminum, this gearbox will hold your transmission gears with great precision. Package includes one gearbox housing, one unassembled ball differential, one motor mount, one main shaft, two steel center pins, two idler gears, eight bearings and hardware.
When used with the RRX 2.0, the internal transmission gears can be oriented to a 4-gear setting. When used with the RMX 2.0, the internal transmission gears can be oriented to a 4-gear setting. The included motor features three different motor placements allowing for changes to the center of gravity. The included ball differential uses aluminum outdrives for a long lasting finish.

The upgrade itself is cool, no issues after running a few sessions and the performance upgrade is nice. The car feels more planted with the linear gears rotating inline to the direction of travel compared to the bevel gears of the previous iteration.
HOWEVER, be warned that not all the parts required are included to assemble. You will either have to take the 10×15 bearings (holding the outdrive cups, part #120001) from your old gearbox or purchase 2 for this build, the instruction also does not make mention of this but is drawn in the examples.
The design of the gearbox itself corrected a major issue from the first version.
The older version had 2 screws running across the center, bolting onto the motor mount. Most people, myself included had a tendency to over-tighten them causing a bind which could eventually cause excessive wear to all connected gears, including the motor.
This updated gearbox does not have central screws and the two halves are held together using screws on the front and the rear of the gearbox.
The price is steep but most of that is from the cost of the aluminum gearbox alone. 3 customers found this review helpful.
