E-flite UMX Twin Otter – Micro Bind-N-Fly RC Airplane
The E-flite UMX Twin Otter BNF Basic Electric Airplane is modeled after the iconic twin-engine DHC-6 Twin Otter produced by De Havilland in 1965. Developed as a rugged STOL plane, the plane was used to carry passengers and cargo into harsh environments like the sub-zero Antarctic and the scorching North African desert. In 2005 Viking Air Limited purchased the production rights and announced the Viking Series 400 Twin Otter. E-flite has faithfully replicated the stunning details of this plane down to UMX scale. Because of its convenient ultra-micro size, the Twin Otter can be flown in more compact spaces, including in many yards, parks and sports fields. Along with molded-in panel lines, corrugated control surfaces, and a scale-inspired trim scheme, the UMX Twin Otter is also equipped with scale-looking LED navigation and landing lights. Plus, the brushless motors, with counter-rotating 3-blade props, are compatible with common and affordable 1S 500–800mAh batteries also used for the UMX Ultrix and other popular models. I’m not sure what the other reviewer means by the tail rudder; This plane utilizes thrust vectoring of the props to turn, not the rudder. 1 customer found this review helpful. The twin motors en lieu of a rudder is interesting, but not something I’d want all the time. Mine stopped binding after a couple flights (no crashes).
