Randolph Galloway Verified Owner Tuesday, Dec 17 2024 (9 months ago) E-flite P-51D Mustang “Cripes A’Mighty 3rd” Bind-N-Fly Basic Electric Airplane Beautiful aircraft and a pleasure to fly. Assembly and transmitter (NX8) programming took about five hours – I take my time in an effort to get it right. Flight test to clear model resulted in a total of three (3) clicks of left aileron trim required to achieve hands-off level flight with 55-60% power. 4S/30C, 2200mHa battery fits nicely onto battery try and provides for spot-on C/G. Easy to take off and land. Very smooth in flight. 4S provides plenty of punch for aggressive vertical maneuvering. Only (non) issue with this model is reverse thrust. The model comes with reverse thrust. And it is on Aux 2/Channel 7 along with SAFE/AS3X. Why E-Flite does this is a mystery to me? Have discussed with their technical representatives – no good answer. However, the good news, unlike some other models (3D Ultimate), the P-51 requires the reverse thrust function to be activated, not disabled. Summary: great model, great replica of the aircraft flown by a great man – Maj George Preddy. Strongly recommend.

The motor and esc get way to hot, there is no motor cooling after one flight 3 1/2 mins 2200 14.8 mah the motor and esc are so hot you can’t touch them!!!!! The first motor and esc burnt up in one flight. Do not buy this plane unless you get a spinner that allows airflow across the motor. 75mm spinner is needed. The battery tray is in the bottom it’s removable and it sucks a 14.8 2200 is all you’re getting in it. There is no room in the fuselage for a bigger battery. For a gen 2 rc plane this thing is junk!!!
I would never recommend buying it. Get the 1.2 meter p47 I have that plane and it’s a night and day difference. Again there is no air cooling in this plane it gets way to hot and horizons service sucks.
