Flying Sumo Verified Owner Friday, Apr 7 2023 (about 2 years ago) Tamiya TT-02BR 1/10 4WD Off-Road Buggy Kit This is a thought-out kit with some nice bits and features that will make you smile. This will get you close into the TRF line without burning a hole in your pocket. The driveline is silky smooth because of the exceptional plastic material that is different from your cheaper TT-02 kits, all hex hardware, Tamiya bearings are no longer filled with thick grease but light oil because it spins free. The chassis is fiber-resin filled so you might want to dip the screws threads into the supplied grease to ease the threading. The only drawback I had with building this kit is the front C-hub rubbing the knuckles because there is some binding when attaching the top and bottom cap screws. The angle of the screws in reference to the angle of the C-hub needs to be broken-in to create a smoother motion. Overall, I am happy with this purchase especially when you can use the discount coupon code to lower the price, actually it helped pay for the Uncle Sam portion of the purchase. I love Amain’s cheap shipping price (it’s free if you can wait longer) and that’s why this Sumo is flying. 6 customers found this review helpful. Jason Moline Verified Owner Wednesday, May 10 2023 (about 2 years ago) Tamiya TT-02BR 1/10 4WD Off-Road Buggy Kit I absolutely love it. Make sure you have a quality tool set before assembly included Allen wrenches wont cut it. Be careful assembling diffs 2x8mm screws strip easily. Does not include tires. 3 customers found this review helpful. Joe Martinez Verified Owner Monday, Mar 25 2024 (about a year ago) Tamiya TT-02BR 1/10 4WD Off-Road Buggy Kit This is my first Tamiya after a 20 plus years hiatus from the R/C scene. I’m coming from the days of DF-01, TA-02, TA-03 chassis. I know all too well what Tamiya Hop-Up’s cost and when I was searching for what Tamiya I wanted for my entry back into the R/C hobby. I originally wanted the TT-02SRX but it sold out everywhere. I stumbled onto the TT-02BR…………..I bought it FAST! It was a no-brainer after seeing all the featured Hop-Ups included. The Neo Scorcher Kit (58568A) is around $170ish and the TT-02B/DF-03 Aluminum Damper Set alone sells for $60. So for around $90 more, you get a plethora of genuine Tamiya Hop-Ups, the Neo Scorcher Body and wing (no Neo Scorcher decals just the TT-02BR decals) for under $255, out of the box you have a good starting point for tunning. I’m absolutely happy with the Tamiya TT-02BR chassis and a smart purchase to get back into Tamiya R/C!!! 2 of 3 customers found this review helpful. Timmy Klatte Verified Owner Wednesday, Aug 27 2025 (5 weeks ago) Tamiya TT-02BR 1/10 4WD Off-Road Buggy Kit I just purchased this kit last week-and it took a few evenings to complete it. At first, I didn’t like the Neo Scorcher body-but it kind of grew on me.I used a Holmes Hobby Retro Sport 21t brushed motor-a Hobbywing 1060 ESC-a Flysky radio-and a 3000 Mah Nimh battery. I found some cheapie wheels and tires on Ebay and now it it awesome!! The upgraded parts do make a difference-I also have a standard TT02B Plasma Edge (which I also like very much) and this one seems to be a little bit racier. My Secret Test Track was created so that I didn’t need to always find an empty ballfield-and it flies around it.This kit is not for the hard core racer-but for a basher like myself, it fits the bill perfectly-arguably the best TT02B chassis going. Simon Zhu Verified Owner Sunday, Mar 9 2025 (7 months ago) Tamiya TT-02BR 1/10 4WD Off-Road Buggy Kit Worth every penny of it! It’s less expensive overall than buy all the hop ups to upgrade the car from the basic TT02B if you don’t care about the decals.
The only thing Tamiya shall include in the “parts required to complete” is the tires. For bash and non competition racing, just get $15 buggy tires and wheels on Amazon, otherwise, use Tamiya parts 54187 and 54188 for competition, or 54185 and 54186 for practice.
Another thing I upgraded was the steering upgrade 54752. However, it’s not a must, I may end up swapping it out for my TT02 racing setup.
What I don’t like Tamiya TT02BR is the missing the original Neo Scorcher decals, for a $251 kit, the decals shall be included rather than asking hobbyists to search online and ended to spend another $30 to get a decals set from Hongkong. Shame on Tamiya! View all reviews
